Well, we're a few hours away from officially declaring Barack Obama the next President of the United States. Needless to say, the projections are grim for his opponent and hopefully things will become better for our neighbours to the south.
There's been a lot of shitty things done by the Republicans over the past eight years and George W. Bush should have been impeached for sheer idiocy. The man was clearly incapable of doing his job and was merely a puppet of large corporations, Dear Old Dad and Dick Cheney. These people fucked with the democratic process and no matter where you are in the world, that's a bad thing.
Democracy is something we truly take for granted in Canada. However, our own Conservative goverment that was re-elected last month commited a heinous crime when it attempted to fuck with Elections Canada over the campaign spending debacle. I'm not trying to be an apologist for the Liberals (lord knows, my days of voting Red are through... I'm all about the Orange) but messing around with our electoral system is a greater crime than some tax dollars being misappropriated in the Adscam debacle.
We need to look at the bigger picture... too bad most of us don't.
